Applying the techniques and ideologies introduced in THEatre ACCELERATOR, Apples and Oranges Arts leverages new technology to develop and produce promising new stories from TA Alumni and beyond. Iterative, data-driven creative development, early brand building and market identification are hallmarks of our approach to incubating new works.

Winter Lights
Developed for the stage and virtual reality, STEM-forward family musical WINTER LIGHTS enchants audiences with hummable earwigs, relatable characters and holiday spectacle when a magical character appears to a science-minded teen and takes her, her younger brother and her robot friend on a wild, funny and fantastical journey to help her face her fears and gain the confidence she needs to create her dream invention. Written by founders Tim Kashani (book) and Pamela Winslow Kashani (music and lyrics) WINTER LIGHTS was developed in partnership with the Discovery Cube Orange County and will soon play live there from December 16th – January 8th.
Dorothy
DOROTHY, a new musical, follows the life and death of Dorothy Killgallen: the groundbreaking, brilliant and complex newswoman who treaded dangerous territory uncovering the truth behind the Kennedy assassination. At the peak of her career in the 1950s, Dorothy’s voice was the most powerful female voice in the world. Ace investigative reporter, radio show host, TV star (What’s My Line), and renowned gossip columnist, she knew everything about everyone who was anybody. Written by Chuck Strand (book, music and lyrics) and George Petersen (additional music), this new musical follows Dorothy as she attracts intrigue at every turn.

Airborn
Currently under cross-platform development, AIRBORN follows famed aviatrixes Louise Thaden, Marvel Crosson and a corps of empowered heroines as they risk their lives in the world’s first all-female cross country, air derby to secure womens’ place in the future of flight. Written by Taylor Hatch (book) and Jordan Kamalu (music, lyrics), the high-energy, inspiring musical features a sweeping contemporary score and cast of colorful characters that viewers will recognize as some of the pioneers of the air.
The Calling
A virtual reality historical fantasy inspired by the events that transpired during the infamous Memphis Sanitation Strike, THE CALLING features custom character and world design with an all-original gospel-infused score and songs. Accessible via Oculus Quest I and II, The Calling combines passive viewing with immersive storytelling and audience interaction to transport you from present day Beale Street back to March 28, 1968 as you join Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his final peaceful demonstration and discover an ancient ancestral power lying dormant within.
Designed as a companion piece to the full-length musical, At the River I Stand by Alani iLongwe and Rowen Casey, THE CALLING VR development is underway with an expected release in early 2022.
